There is a power that can impact all we do. It has an effect on our closest relationships, our families, our friends, our jobs. Is it some new form of leadership training? Is it some new psychological counseling? No, it is simply the words we speak. Words are often overlooked when motivation is needed to complete a hard project; they are not thought of when a marriage begins to have problems. Yet, they are what can make a difference. Think for a moment, what do you remember your Mom saying? Her words told you of her love, warned you that nothing good happens after midnight, and sadly some parent’s words may have told us we weren’t good enough or that we would never amount to anything Think of your favorite teacher or coach. How did their words change you? Words have the power to build up or break down. Words have rallied people to go to war or to sacrifice for solidiers as many did in WW II. We can say hurtful words in a moment of anger. Words once spoken can’t be taken back. There is no delete key on our speech. Think before you speak. You can apologize over and over again, but even if forgiven, words are remembered. What words do you want to be remembered for saying?
